Administration
The Postgraduate School of the Lagos State University is the flagship of the institution. The School is responsible for admitting and graduating students of Higher Degree Programmes. The Postgraduate School is made up of the following units for administrative convenience:
- Admissions;
- Board and Senate Matters;
- Examinations;
- Records;
- Certificate; and
- General Administration
The Heads of Units are responsible to the Secretary, Postgraduate School for the day to day administration of the School. The Secretary, Postgraduate School is responsible to the Dean, Postgraduate School in the day to day administration of the Postgraduate School.
The Secretary also co-ordinates the activities of the Administrative units in the Postgraduate School for effective and efficient service delivery.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION UNIT
- The General Administration unit is responsible to the Secretary, Postgraduate School in respect of all equipment and materials in the Postgraduate School;
- The Unit is responsible to the Secretary for the day to day maintenance of all the equipment and materials in the Postgraduate School;
- Processing request for purchase of equipment and furniture;
- Processing request for repairs and replacement of all equipment and furniture;
- The General Administration Unit is the custodian of the Container Store of the Postgraduate School;
- The Unit is in charge of all leave matters in the Postgraduate School;
- Co-ordination and distribution of Academic attires during convocation ceremonies;
- Responsible to the Secretary for final clearance of Postgraduate graduands;
- Responsible to the Secretary in the maintenance of Physical infrastructure in the Postgraduate School.

Below are the details of activities carried out in each of the units:
ADMISSIONS UNIT
- Co-ordination of activities involved in advertisement for admission into the Postgraduate School;
- Preparation of Postgraduate admission list;
- Co-ordination of the registration process in Postgraduate School;
- Compilation of Matriculation List of Postgraduate students;
- Attending to enquiries and complaints from Postgraduate students and prospective students;
- Maintenance and updating of the Postgraduate Matriculation register.

- Placement of advertisement for admission into available Postgraduate Programmes;
- Purchase of the Postgraduate on-line application scratch card by prospective students;
- Conduct of entrance examinations for candidates who have applied for available Postgraduate Programmes;
- Conduct of oral interviews for candidates who were successful at the entrance examinations
- Short-listing of qualified candidates for admission into Postgraduate Programme
BOARD AND SENATE MATTERS UNIT
The Board and Senate Matters Unit assist the Secretary, Postgraduate School in the:
- Co-ordination of Postgraduate School Board Meetings;
- Preparation/Co-ordination of Papers for Senate Meetings;
- Servicing of Postgraduate School Curriculum Committee;
- Writing of Minutes of Meetings;
- Conveying of Decision Extracts of Meetings.
EXAMINATIONS UNIT
- Processing Postgraduate Students’ Results from various Departments;
- Presenting Postgraduate Students’ Results for Vetting;
- Presenting Postgraduate Students’ Results for the endorsement of the Chairman, Postgraduate Vetting Committee;
- Processing vetted Postgraduate Results (Full-Time and Part-Time) for the consideration and recommendation of Postgraduate School Board;
- Processing Postgraduate School Board recommended results for the consideration and approval of Senate;
- Processing relevant documents leading to the conduct of Ph.D Oral Examination;
- Notifying approved Panel of Examiners for the conduct of Ph.D. Oral Examination;
- Issuance of examination booklets and other relevant materials to Postgraduate Programme Co-ordinators in the various Departments during examination period.
Procedure for Processing Postgraduate Students’ Results
- Students’ Academic Profiles and Summary Sheets are computed in accordance with the Postgraduate School recommended format by the concerned Departments and Campuses of the External System;
- Students’ Academic Profiles and Summary Sheets are forwarded from the concerned Departments and Campuses of the External System for vetting to the Exams Unit, through the Secretary, Postgraduate School ;
- Students’ Academic Profiles and Summary Sheets are forwarded by the Exams Unit, through the Secretary, Postgraduate School, for the attention and endorsement of the Chairman, Vetting Committee;
- Photocopies of the vetted Academic Profiles and Summary Sheets are requested from the concerned Departments/Directorate of External System for the consideration of Postgraduate School Board;
- Presentation of the results for the consideration and recommendation of Postgraduate School Board;
- Request for photocopies of Postgraduate School Board recommended results from the concerned Departments/Director of External System for the consideration and approval of Senate;
- Presentation of Postgraduate School Board recommended results for the consideration and approval of Senate.

RECORDS UNIT
- Custodian of all approved Postgraduate results by the Senate;
- Processing of requests in respect of Verification/Confirmation of results of graduate;
- Assists the Secretary, Postgraduate School with the issuance of letter of Proficiency, Attestation and Confirmation of graduates of the Postgraduate School;
- Processing of Academic Transcripts and Statement of Results;
- Assists the Secretary, Postgraduate School with the issuance of Notification of Results and Statement of Results to graduates of the Postgraduate School.

- Obtain the Postgraduate School final clearance form at the records unit;
- Get the clearance form signed at the appropriate offices;
- Make a photocopy of the duly signed clearance form;
- Obtain and complete a request form for Notification of result at the records unit;
- Attach the photocopy of duly signed clearance form to the request form and submit at the records unit for processing.
Procedure for Processing Academic Transcript
- Obtain a teller at the Bursary Office (Admin. Blk 2, Room 11);
- Proceed to LASU Microfinance Bank for payment of the sum of Five Thousand Naira (N,5000) for transcript processing;
- Convert the teller to the University official receipt at the Bursary Office;
- Obtain and complete a request form for Academic transcript at the records unit;
- Attach the original receipt, photocopy of the signed clearance form to the request form and submit at the Records Unit for processing.
Procedure for collection of Statement of Result
- Obtain a teller at the Bursary Office (Admin. Blk 2, Room 11);
- Proceed to LASU Microfinance Bank and make a payment of the sum of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000) processing fee;
- Convert the teller to the University official receipt at the Bursary Office;
- Obtain and complete a request form for Statement of result at the record unit;
- Attach the original receipt, photocopy of the signed clearance form to the request form and submit at the Records Unit for processing.
Procedure for Verification of Results
For verification of Results, please contact Risk Control Services Limited. However, this is done at a cost of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000) accruable to the Postgraduate School.

CERTIFICATE UNIT
- Issuance of Bio-data forms to Postgraduate graduands for processing of certificates;
- Processing of completed Bio-data forms along with Academic Profiles for certificate production at the Registrar’s Office;
- Vetting of printed dummy certificates;
- Listing of printed dummy certificates after duly vetted for production of the original certificates;
- Listing of the original certificates for the endorsement of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar;
- Assisting the Secretary in releasing certificates to Postgraduate graduands;
- Attending to individual graduands complaint on certificate related matters.
Procedure for Applying for Certificate
- Completion of Bio-data form;
- Attach copy of Notification of Result;
- Attach two (2) recent passport photographs;
- Submit the documents listed above to the certificate unit for processing.
Required Documents for collection of Certificate
- Original Notification of Result
- Original copy of duly signed Postgraduate Clearance form;
- Original university official receipt for payment of one thousand naira (N1,000) to Zenith Bank, LASU Branch for certificate processing;
- Original university official receipt for payment of one thousand naira (N1,000) to LASU Microfinance Bank for Alumni fee;
- Photocopy of recent identity card of student (Any means of identification)
Conditionality for Collection of Certificate by Proxy
Part A
The document in PART A MUST be forwarded by SPECIAL POST to The Registrar, Lagos State University, Ojo Main Campus, Badagry Expressway, Lagos, Nigeria.
- Letter of Authority from LASU Graduate duly signed with overseas address and contact phone number
- Photocopy of International passport Data page
- Photocopy of International passport Visa-page

Part B
The document in PART B MUST be presented by the PROXY
- Original copy of final clearance;
- Original copy of Faculty Identification Letter

- Original copy of certificate processing fee receipt (N1000)

- Identification papers of proxy.
Please Note that collection of Certificate by proxy is applicable only to LASU Graduates that are not resident in Nigeria.
