ICT technical team installed Kaspersky anti-virus (version 5) on virtually all the desktops (HP) and laptops (HP) purchased through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HP, Nigeria office in August, 2006. This robust and efficient anti-virus expired on 22nd August, 2007. This means that all HP desktops and laptops can be dangerously exposed to virus attacks at anytime if they are not equipped with the latest anti-virus.
ICT has therefore purchased new version of Kaspersky anti-virus (version 6) i.e. the latest version, in order to safeguard these computers. It is advisable that the latest version of Kaspersky anti-virus, that is valid for 12 months, be installed on these computers immediately.
All Heads of Departments/Units, teaching and non-teaching staff should formally write to the Chairman, ICT, for immediate installation of the anti-virus, free of charge. Heads of Departments/Units should clearly state the serial numbers of these official computer systems as the only condition for installing Kaspersky anti-virus (version 6).
However, the installation of the anti-virus on personal laptops and personal desktop computers shall attract a fee of N2,000 (two thousand naira) only for each computer.
