2007/2008 ADMISSION EXERCISE (FIRST AND LAST ROUND)

July 13, 2007

1. INTRODUCTION

The Admission unit of the University is in the process of rounding up its admission exercise for the forthcoming 2007/2008 Academic session. This exercise commenced with Post-UME screening tests on the basis of candidates who sat for JAMB admission in April 2006. The list of candidates who took part in the first round of Post-UME Screening test, were selected and given provisional admission strictly on merit.

The Round Two admission exercise which was named Change of Course was carried out to fill the declared vacancies in some academic units with candidates who have obtained at least 50% aggregate scores. The Round Two was undertaken, free of charge, by candidates who sat for the first Round Post UME screening tests. At the end of this exercise, it was discovered that some academic units could still not fill their quota approved by the Senate, the highest academic policy making organ of the University. Consequently, the Admission unit proceeded to conduct another Post UME screening tests called Third Round i.e. Change of University. This allowed any candidate who scored at least 200 points at April 2006 JAMB Examinations to participate in this screening test. And some qualified candidates were given provisional admission. Despite this third round, there were still vacancies in some academic units. In a nut shell, the results of April 2006 JAMB Examination, led to the conduct of three rounds of admission exercises: Round One, Round Two (Change of Course) and Round Three (Change of University).

2. 2007 POST-JAMB SCREENING TESTS (FIRST AND FINAL ROUND)

Few weeks before the commencement of 2007/2008 Academic session, JAMB released the result of its April 2007 examination. The University Senate mandated the Admissions Unit to conduct First and Final Round of Post UME Screening Tests on the basis of the results of April 2007 Jamb Examination. This decision was based on the fact that there were still vacancies in the academic units at the end of the three previous rounds of admission process.

There were three principal reasons for these fresh vacancies:

(a) Some candidates offered provisional admission went off to other Universities (public and private)

(b) Some candidates who falsely claimed to be Lagosians were disqualified and dropped by LASU Indigeneship Verification Committee.

(c) Some academic units could not fill their quota with qualified candidates from the first three rounds of admission exercises.

3. 2007 POST UME FIRST AND LAST ROUND: MODE OF SELECTION

Please find below the level of performance of candidates who sat for the just concluded 2007 post UME screening tests (100 and 200 LEVEL). This list has been subdivided into two

A . List of candidates in alphabetic order with results

B . List of candidates on the order of merit with results

This list of candidates on the order of merit (B) emanated from the list of candidates in alphabetic order with results. These Post UME Results were arrived at in the following manner:

WAEC/NECO --25% .

LASU POST UME screening tests –75%

Please note that the aggregate scores of candidates within the 100 level category were arrived at without taking into consideration the scores they obtained at April JAMB 2007 Examination .Why? Because JAMB is yet to provide its traditional soft copy version of the results of 2007 JAMB Examinations. This soft copy is normally used by the Admissions Unit to verify, through some dedicated computers, the genuineness of the JAMB scores presented on-line by all candidates. However, whenever JAMB provides LASU with the soft copy of the April JAMB 2007 Examination Results, we shall, of course, verify the JAMB results put forward by candidates during their on-line registration exercise. Candidates with false declaration of results and those with less than 200 points in JAMB Examination shall automatically lose their provisional admission given to them. Consequently, they shall be expelled from the university.

4. DISQUALIFIED CANDIDATES: Some candidates who sat for the 2007 first and last round post UME screening tests have been categorized as ‘disqualified’. And they were disqualified for the following reasons:

Category A – Candidates without JAMB registration number and / or course codes.

Category B – Candidates with unacceptable behaviour at the screening centres.

Category C – Candidates absent from test and / or unscannable OMR forms.

Category D – Candidates with double entry.

5. LIST OF SELECTED CANDIDATES: Candidates offered provisional admission under the 2007 Post UME Screening tests will soon be published within the next few days through these following channels:
