I.   MATRICULATION CEREMONY OF THE STUDENTS OF SANDWICH PROGRAMME, ILESA OSUN STATE

The Matriculation Ceremony of the students of Sandwich Programme, Ilesa will be held on Friday, 11th May, 2007 at 10.00a.m, at Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, Osun State.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain will preside while the     admission oath will be administered by the Registrar, Mr. Oluwatoyin Oshun.

II.  COURTESY CALLS

(a)        A three man delegation from the United Bank of Africa (UBA), Plc led by the    Regional Director, Apapa, Mr. Babs KASALI, paid a courtesy visit on the Vice           Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain, on Monday, 23rd April, 2007, in his         office.

In his speech, Mr. Kasali stated that the purpose of the visit was tailored towards establishing a long term partnership with the State’s highest institution. He referred to the University Management as “…, an excellent team of Academic    Professionals…”.

He added that the Bank would provide other services in the area of guidance & counseling to students, award scholarship to well-deserving students and offer employment opportunities through the conduct of tests for qualified graduates of the University.  Mr. Kasali appreciated the present position of the university amongst its equals with emphasis on the role the university had played in the life of the people.
           
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain, expressed delight in receiving the delegates. He commended the Bank’s initiatives and hoped to develop a vibrant relationship with UBA, Plc.

The UBA delegation included Mr. Deji Monehin, Business Manager, Alaba branch and Mr. Muyiwa Akinyemi, Regional Director. 
              
Present at the partnership talk were: Registrar, Mr. Oluwatoyin Oshun, University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) A.O. Idowu, Deputy Registrar, (Vice Chancellor’s Office) -Mr. Kehinde Okusanya JP, Deputy Bursar, Mr. Lasisi, Senior Assistant Registrar, (Information & Public Relations Unit),  M.A.I. Oyeniji (Mrs), Assistant Registrar (Vice Chancellor’s office), Mr. A.G. Yusuf and Higher Executive Officer (Information & PR Unit), Mr.Olaniyi  S. Jeariogbe.
(b)        The representatives of the university Senior Staff Club paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain, on Monday 23rd April, 2007 in his Office.

Dr. Tosin Olarinmoye, Secretary to the club and a member of staff from the Faculty of Science, while unveiling the plans of the executives in giving the staff club a face lift, appealed to the Vice Chancellor to assist the executives financially by way of providing some social amenities to make the Staff Club a place to behold.

The team praised the Vice Chancellor and his management team for their distinguished style of leadership and also wished the university management more success.

Responding the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain, commented on the autonomy of the staff club. He however, stated that there is provision for Senior Staff Club in the New Master Plan, but promised that the management would look into their requests and assist where possible.

The Senior Staff Club team included: Bar Manager, Mr. Olamigoke AKINBULI, University Library, Financial Director, Mr. Rafiu HASSAN, Internal Audit and Social Director, Mr. Samson OLAWUWO, Staff School.

Receiving the team with the Vice Chancellor were: University Librarian (Dr) Mrs. A.O. Idowu, the Deputy Registrar (Vice Chancellor’s Office), Mr. Kehinde Okusanya, Deputy Bursar, Mr. Lasisi, Senior Assistant Registrar, (Information and Public Relations Unit), M.A.I. Oyeniji (Mrs.) and Higher Executive Officer (Information & PR Unit), Mr. Olaniyi  S. Jeariogbe.
           
III.       NON-RENEWAL OF STUDY LEAVE WITH PAY           

The Appointments and Promotions (Administrative and Technical) Committee, at its meeting of Tuesday, 17th April, 2007, turned down the application of Mrs. N.B. Kehinde, a Senior Personal Secretary in the Faculty of Arts for renewal of study leave with pay for  the 2006/2007 academic session.

The Committee noted that:

  • the B.Sc. Degree Programme in Secretarial Administration, which she is undertaking

      at the Anthony Campus of the University is a part-time programme.

  • the study leave with pay which she has hitherto enjoyed, is irregular and could not be supported by any university regulation.

The Committee, therefore, directed that Mrs. N.B. Kehinde should report at her duty post, latest, by Monday, 23rd April, 2007 and her claim for refund of expenses incurred was not approved.
           
IV.       TRAINING LEAVE
The Appointments and Promotions (Academic) Committee at its meeting held on Wednesday, 18th April, 2007, approved that Mrs. S.O ARIMIYAU, an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Arts,  should commence her training leave on 1st April, 2007, as requested.

Mrs. S.O.Arimiyau had earlier scheduled 1st February, 2007, for the commencement of the training leave before changing it to the above-mentioned date.     
           
V.        SABBATICAL
The Appointments and Promotions (Administrative and Technical) Committee, at its meeting of Tuesday, 17th April, 2007, approved the request of the Deputy Director (Audit), Mr. Augustus Ola OMOTESO, to proceed on a twelve-month sabbatical leave at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The Sabbatical Leave is with effect from Tuesday, 1st May, 2007 and ends on Wednesday, 30th April, 2008.

The University wishes him a fulfilling sabbatical leave.
