LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY, LAGOS, NIGERIA

2004/2005 ACADEMIC SESSION

                         CHANGE OF UNIVERSITY (VACANCIES)

1.        FIRST ROUND OF SELECTION

Lagos State University has carried out, so far, two steps, in its admission policy for 2004/2005 Academic Session. The first step was to organize a post UME (JAMB) screening tests to select candidates into various departments on the basis of the quota approved jointly by JAMB and the National University Commission (NUC) and endorsed by the university Senate- the highest academic policy making organ. In the implementation of these admission guidelines, the Committee of Deans and Provost of LASU decided that for any candidate to be given admission he/ she MUST score an aggregate minimum of 50% from: JAMB examination (25%), WAEC/ NECO results (25%) and LASU Screening Test (50%).These criteria remain NOT negotiable. The selection of candidates was by order of MERIT. Candidates who applied for Direct Entry were also considered.

2.        SECOND ROUND OF SELECTION

On the basis of the criteria outlined above, LASU advertised both on its website (www.lasunigeria.org) and three national newspapers the list of vacancies which existed in some academic departments. Candidates who took part in LASU post UME (JAMB) screening tests had the opportunity to apply, free of charge, for  change of course(s). At the end of this second round of selection, it was discovered that there still exist vacancies in some departments. Hence, the need for a third and final round of selection.

3.        THIRD AND FINAL ROUND OF SELECTION (CHANGE OF UNIVERSITY)

On behalf of the university, I hereby formally declare that the following vacancies

are yet to be filled (see list below). ONLY candidates who sat for April/May 2005 UME (JAMB) examination should apply. In other words, ALL Candidates who took part in the April/May 2005 UME (JAMB) may apply .For emphasis, candidates who did not choose LASU as First and Second choice can EQUALLY send in their application forms.  However, candidates must score at least 200 marks (i.e. 50%) at the last April/May, 2005 as the MINIMUM condition before they could apply for this third round of selection. INTERESTED CANDIDATES SHOULD APPLY ONLY TO DEPARTMENTS WITH DECLARED VACANCIES. Candidates are also advised to study carefully the admission requirements of the departments to which they intend to apply before filling the form. These requirements are contained in the 2005 JAMB brochure. Candidates should apply to existing vacancies in conformity with vacancies on the basis of state of origin. The results of the recent LASU UME (JAMB) screening test shall NOT be considered in the selection of candidates for change of university. All candidates will sit for a FRESH QUALIFYING SCREENING TEST between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm on Saturday, 4th March, 2006 at LASU Main Campus in Ojo, Badagry Expressway.

4.             MODE OF APPLICATION AND PAYMENT : Candidates  should follow  these instructions:
